The Student Access Hygiene Program is an initiative that provides students with access to essential personal care items by offering thoughtfully assembled hygiene kits through trusted school staff.
What it is: The Student Access Hygiene Program provides discreet, dignity-centered hygiene kits for students who may need extra support. These kits include everyday essentials such as soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, and other basic care items that help students feel comfortable, confident, and ready for the school day.
The program was developed in collaboration with students and school staff to ensure the items provided are practical, respectful, and actually useful.
How it fits into our larger work: The Student Hygiene Access Program is part of our broader commitment to meeting real needs with care and compassion, removing barriers where we can, and supporting well-being at every stage of life. Like our pantry and library efforts, this program focuses on access, dignity, and community partnership rather than one-time charity.
How it works: Hygiene kits are assembled locally and made available through the school nurse so students can access what they need privately and without stigma. We focus on maintaining a small, sustainable supply that can be replenished as items are used and needs change.
Current status: The program is currently in its pilot phase, starting with a small number of kits while feedback is gathered and ongoing needs are assessed. As the program grows, it will continue to adapt based on guidance from students and school staff.
On Friday, January 30, 2026 Friends of Willard Street dropped off 30 hygiene bags to the Berlin Middle High School in Berlin, NH.
How you can help: You can support this program by donating items from the Student Access Hygiene Program wish list or by sponsoring a hygiene kit.
